Seaver

Under the newly founded Dutch brand Seaver, five yachts – the Nordic 65, 80 and Azure 65, 80, 95 – have been developed from original Xtreme designs by Bernd Weel and are now introduced under a new ownership model that addresses common challenges in yacht ownership.

Simon Schilder and Mike Verweij, two experienced yacht owners, joined forces with Bernd Weel, the original designer, and Julian van Santen, the original project lead, to relaunch Weel’s select models under the new brand, Seaver. Unlike a traditional yacht builder, Seaver acts as a partner, supporting clients from concept through construction, delivery, and into an exclusive ownership collective. Five yachts have initially been brought to market across two distinctive lines, ranging from 20 to 30 metres in length. Three demo models are already sailing and available for viewings, with future models planned. All are ready to build at the company’s selected Dutch shipyard, Altena Yachting.

Two Distinct Lines

The two lines are designed and engineered for different types of cruising. The Nordic range, comprising a 65-foot and an 80-foot model, is carefully considered for colder climates. Designed as a villa at sea, the interior spaces are vast, with volumes and headroom that rival much larger vessels. Extensive glazing, including a large retractable sunroof, floods the interior with natural light, maximises airflow, and ensures uninterrupted views at sea.

The Azure range, initially available at 80 feet, with 95- and 65-foot iterations currently under development, features an expansive flybridge with deck layouts tailored for Mediterranean cruising and living. The generous exterior spaces offer multiple lounging areas, both shaded and open, as well as an al fresco dining area on the aft deck. An optional Jacuzzi can also be installed on the broad sun deck.

Across both ranges, Seaver yachts are constructed with lightweight aluminium hulls for efficient cruising and enhanced manoeuvrability, without compromising stability or comfort. Each yacht also features a hydraulic tender platform and a full-beam water sports garage. Every Seaver is designed around the onboard experience, equally suited to owner-operated or a fully crewed operation. The general arrangement and layout have been developed to maximise family-style living on board, and outfitting can be customised to suit the specific requirements of each owner, offering a degree of flexibility to define each Seaver according to how they enjoy spending time on the water. Accommodation is available for up to eight guests, depending on the chosen model.

Design & Construction

One of the key partners in the Seaver ecosystem is Altena Yachting, the family-owned Dutch shipyard that has been building yachts since 1969. The yard is part of an integrated process in which design, construction, and outfitting come together seamlessly under shared direction. Clients are encouraged to visit throughout the build, offering full visibility as their Seaver takes shape.

“We believe in the renewed concept of Seaver Yachts: not as a shipyard handling the entire build, but as a brand that facilitates every aspect of creating a high-end yacht,” says Maurice Pols, Director of Altena Yachting. “This allows the yard and the other Seaver partners to focus on their core expertise, maximising both quality and efficiency throughout.”

Design is handled in-house through Weel Sluijter, the studio co-founded by Bernd Weel and Jim Sluijter in 2024. All Seaver design development has been led personally by Weel, the original designer of the yachts. Together with Sluijter, they bring two decades of experience in exterior design for large motor yachts. “Our approach is driven by purity and creativity,” says Weel, Co-Founder & Designer. “We aim to distil each concept to its most essential elements – never overdesigned, though always distinctive for each project. It resulted in a unique and recognisable design-DNA for this range of Seaver yachts.”

Ownership 

Seaver operates as a network of proven specialists, each responsible for their own discipline and collectively accountable for the whole. By working with independent specialists aligned towards a common goal, clients gain a broad range of expertise across all areas of design, construction, and ownership, with a model designed to minimise risk, close gaps, and bring greater transparency throughout the entire process. This brings a heightened level of quality control not possible through a single stakeholder.

Each partner operates as a separate, independent entity, executing work on behalf of Seaver. This structure creates a robust internal quality control mechanism while supporting long-term stability. By keeping all work project-based, Seaver maintains low overheads, ensuring a solid and sustainable partner for clients and their builds.
